Our thoughts and actions determine our euphony in life to a great extent. The harmony we experience is often a result of what we do, how we do what we do and when we do what we do.
Leading a life that is fulfilling because of the love and passion we have for it undoubtedly creates a whole new dimension to our EXISTENCE.
Learn from the Past & Move On
Life is far too precious to be mulled over and depressed about what happened in the past. We may have been traumatized and experienced physical or psychological catastrophes, but the question is – “Do you want the rest of your Life to be wasted by living with the past haunting you?” We need to exercise the choice to move on and be happy.
Surround Yourself with Positivity
Read, listen, indulge in meditation and yoga and surround ourselves (as much as possible) with positive people. Indulging in undesirable or unhealthy habits and seeking companionship of negative people all bring in toxic thoughts and emotions into our life. Abstaining from our destructive indulgences and interactions are recommended for leading a life you love and are passionate about.
We all have our areas of strengths and areas that need improvement. Accepting ourselves with our imperfections takes us a step closer to appreciating life. And by working consciously on our areas that need improvement, we can love our existence to a greater degree.
Mentoring – Be an Effective Mentor & Learn from the wisdom of Mentors
Learn to be an effective mentor and derive pleasure from the satisfaction that you’ll experience when your Mentee excels. Mentoring requires not just wisdom but immense patience as well. The wisdom of our mentors add value to our quality of life. They need not even be people we know for a long time, but their sincerity to guide us with their knowledge enrich our life.
Spend time on Activities and Causes that promote Happiness and Harmony
Taking up social and charity driven initiatives are ways that will engage our time productively and spread cheer around and not just in our hearts. Focusing on others well- being along with ours is wonderful way to celebrate our existence with an altruistic fervor.
Invest in Experiences rather than Luxury Commodities
Many may opt to disagree with this one. In all fairness, this one depends a lot on ones personality and each individual’s definition of what personal happiness is. Its not that we completely refrain from ever buying an expensive luxury item, on the contrary, we can. But it is a good idea to consider the positive impact of experiences compared to the satisfaction that we can derive from luxury goods.
a) There is less danger for people to compare their “possessions” to that of another. This unhealthy attitude not only leads to negative thinking but erodes our existing happiness.
b) Experiences provide a fulfillment that has a tendency to last longer unlike the inertia that can set in with a material purchase. Its not unnatural for many to put aside a dress after buying it due to the sudden belief that it appears unattractive on them! In short, purchases have a tendency to be looked at with a certain whimsical approach unlike an experience.
c) Any experience is a great opportunity to inspire a person to write and make a difference in the reader’s life and that of others. Even traumatic experiences in life have the ability of becoming therapeutic when we write and seek to help others gain strength from our ordeal or situation.
d) As Parents, our focus on the experiences that our child is exposed to, plays a significant role in the formation of their healthy and positive approach to life and people. While our child’s classmates and friends may be conscious of their possessions and compare what they have with others, our child can be groomed to appreciate the finer things in life that many take for granted. Experiential wisdom, fun and learning can only come with deeper efforts and understanding of the world. Furthermore, by taking our children through enlightening experiences (like an expedition to the jungles of the Amazon or sending the child on an international summer school program that teaches the child about different cultures and customs), they are less likely to become members of society for whom vanity and frivolity is a way of life.
It admittedly takes courage to lead a life with passion, purpose and perseverance.
Let’s lead it without regret and discontent, after all, we have just one opportunity to lead our life the best way we can.
As a wise soul once said,
“Love Beautifully, Dream Passionately and Love Completely”
